  • 2009 WPT Merit Cyprus Classic Day 4

Yesterday the story was Layne Flack dancing in and out of trouble, as is his reputation in life, today the guy doing all the “repping” is Rep Porter.  Dodging the Flack attack, Porter vaulted to the top of the chip leader board with an impressive 1.786 million.

Flack isn’t far behind, though his stack actually slipped down to 952k.  Jonathan Little, the young man from Pensacola, FL, has stepped it up, also sliding past Flack’s total and into second place.  Little has 972k in chips.

The other big names are on the opposite sides of the spectrum.  Nenad Medic outlasted Kelly Kim, but will return as the short stack when the September 10 play down to six for the TV table.  Huck Seed is still in contention and continuing his solid year sitting at 669k.

You have to imagine the current owners of the WPT, whoever they are this week, have their fingers crossed that Medic makes a comeback, and Seed, Flack, and Little don’t trip up.  Potentially, they could have a star-studded final table.

The other names, less well known, but hoping to be well known soon included, Steven Fung, Uri Keidar, Janar Kiivramees, Rony Jazzar, and Thomas Bichon.

Jonathan Little can thank his lucky AQ for his run of luck.  He got down on chips and had to shove with AQ into Layne Flack’s pocket Jacks.  Yesterday, no way Flack loses that hand, today was a different story, though you wouldn’t know it from the flop.  JK3 gave Flack his set and Little little hope, bu after saying nice hand, hope floated on the turn.  The 10 gave Jonathan broadway.  Flack returned the “Nice Hand,” but couldn’t pull off the reverse jinx and pair the board.

Later Little knocked out an opponent when his AQ raced pocket nines.  This time the drama was less tense as an Ace flopped.  No set to tantalize and the Ace held, meaning Little prevailed and chipped up.  If we were gambling men, and we are, we’d continue to pick Jonathan Little with his WPT final table expertise.
