Durrrr Challenge… Returns
The durrrr Challenge is back. It’s been some time since Tom “durrrr” Dwan last played the Challenge. At last check durrrr had upped his lead to over 700k. Then nothing. The rest of the World Series played out and still nothing. Finally, Dwan and Antonius got back together again.
It’s not that they haven’t been playing poker, and it’s not that they haven’t been playing poker against each other. However, the action has been taking place in the famed high stakes haven Bobby’s Room at the Bellagio in Vegas.
After a few months, things were quite a bit different than last time. Antonius was the big winner and sliced into Dwan’s lead. The 700k difference quickly slipped to just over 334k.
To review the terms of the challenge durrrr offered anybody in the world heads up action in PLO or NL Hold’Em. He determined the odds to be 3 to 1 that he was favored over 50,000 hands. If he lost, the winner would get what he won plus 1.5 million. If he won, he’d keep what he won plus 500k.
The two have played almost 22,ooo hands. With 28,000 hands to play and the challenge 8 months old it doesn’t look like resolution will come any time soon.
Pokerking had these stats:
“Here are some stats through 21,442 hands:
-Dwan is currently up $334,199.00
-Dwan has won 11,620 of the hands, while Antonius has won 9,751
-Dwan has won an average of $2,529.15 per winning hand, while Antonius has won $2,979.38
-a total of $165,553,853.50 has been wagered
-the largest pot ($477,555.50) was won by Patrik Antonius on June 19th”The swings have been bigger more recently in the challenge with the pots increasing in size the longer they’ve played. It will be interesting to see how long it takes these two online stars to finish it out. It doesn’t seem like any lead will be safe as both players have gotten out ahead of the other but always gets reigned in.
Not sure if they are both pc guys or mac players. When playing online poker on a mac, their options are fairly limited. If you had to guess Dwan’s a pc and Antonius is a mac, well, that’s if you believe Apple’s ad campaign.
