After much ballyhoo, the second installment of the “durrrr Challenge” got underway with things going Durrrr’s way. Tom Dwan jumped out to a big early lead and looked to be starting off on the right foot with Jungleman12. Things seemed to be going in the right direction for the youngster, though against Jungleman12 he’s actually the veteran. It appeared this challenge, which is mostly if not all Texas Holdem poker might be even easier to finish than the yet to be completed challenge with Patrik Antonius. Although looks can be and often are deceiving.

Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Daniel “jungleman12″ Cates completed 1,651 hands in their first session without any Omaha pokerbeing dealt. With 50,000 hands needed to be completed the volume represented only a little over 3% of the future total. So, it’s too early to tell anything really but Dwan had to enjoy starting off with a profit.

It wasn’t exactly a feeling out process, as both players know each other from high stakes online action so it was more “game on” with guns blazing. Without much time to adjust Dwan posted a profit of just under 130k ($129,888.50) which is almost $100 a hand. The set-up was one Dwan preferred with six tables fired up but obviously Cates was at ease in the format too. They decided to play 6 tables of $200/$400 over the course of most of the session. The Challenge stipulates that there must be a minimum of four tables up at one time and they exceeded that minimum over the course of the two hours of their first installment of the challenge.

Though in total the dial only moved three per cent on the scale it was pretty fastly completed. In fact, it means in 66 short hours this challenge could be completed. With both players willing to play long marathon sessions of 8 to 12 hours a day conceivably the challenge could be completed in less than a week. Course, that would happen if they only played each other and took time off from the rest of life to do so. Who knows when Isildur1 will pop up again, but it’s oddly comforting as an outsider to know there is a realistic chance the challenge could be completed sooner rather than later.

Their online poker platform set up eight total tables that have been reserved for the second “durrrr Challenge”. The tables labelled “durrrrr Challenge” 9-16, were not utilized by the players in the first session. Now they are ready and waiting for Durrrr action and the railbirdsthat will come with it. Since we already know how the second session went let’s just say the first session may not be the best indicator of how things are going to go.

There wasn’t too many high stakes memorable hands to pick from but one of the biggest pots of the night between Durrrrr and Jungleman12 was run twice and both times Dwan came out on top. It was a swing pot that made a big difference in the final totals for the session.

Dwan started with suited high cards Ace-Ten of spades. Jungleman12 was also suited but with hearts (six-nine). The flop was far more favorable to Durrrr’s flush chances than Jungleman12′s. A nine of spades was joined by a two of spades and a five of diamonds.

The two players put all their chips in the middle with Jungleman12 sitting precariously on top pair. Dwan had two overs and a flush draw. New to the challenge this go around is running it twice. Both players agreed to and Dwan was happy both times. He made the flush on the first deal and rivered an ace on a second. The 90k pot was virtually 3/4 of Dwan’s profit on the sesssion.
