Looks like the Durrrr Challenge a internet Texas Hold’em poker and Pot Limit Omaha marathon is going to have a sequel or two. Some movei franchises plot out a part two and a part three to a series after doing a blockbuster first movie. Some even film the next two movies together to save on costs. The Star Wars trilogies and the Harry Potter movies have engaged in such sequel to the sequel making before the first sequel is even released. However, it’s incredibly rare borderline unheard of for a sequel to hit the screen before the first movie is out of the theater. While the Durrrr Challenge isn’t a movie, and if it was one it’d be one of the longest movies ever and make the English Patient look like a short, it’s pretty surprising that Durrrr is gearing up to face his second opponent before he’s finished off with his first.

Tom “Durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonious haven’t battled to a standstill it but it certainly was never a sng tournament. Stand still is exactly what many feel like the challenge has become, but more accurately they are engaged in a slo-motion slow bleed snail race to the finish. The premise of the challenge is one meant to elicit multi-tabling high stakes heads up opponents for Dwan. He’s so confident in his abilities he’s offering up 3 to 1 action. Any taker has to put up 500k in escrow, while Durrrr puts up 1.5 million. They play 50,000 hands of No Limit Hold’Em or Pot Limit Omaha with blinds of 200/400 at a minimum of four tables at one time. The winner gets all the money is escrow plus keeps whatever money he’s won in the challenge.

Currently, Tom Dwan is crushing Patrik Antonious. They are almost 80% done with just under 40k worth of hands. Dwan is up over 2 million dollars after the 64 sessions it took to play that many hands. It’s taking over a year and a half to play those 64 sessions. Dwan has gone on the record as saying he’s up for playing more challenges, perhaps at the same time, and it seems like that is about to happen.

Antonius and Dwan have yet to finish the Durrrr Challenge, and without some sort of penalty to motivate the players to play, it appears this Challenge will painfully limp to the finish. Still seeking that heads=up action, which Dwan thinks he has an edge on anybody in the world, Dwan has put out feelers for his next opponent.

Originally, word had it that David Benyamine and Phil Ivey were lining up to play the youngster who may well be an old man before the first edition to concludes. Now it looks like the next challenge will come from out of the blue a little bit, jungleman12 (rumored to be Dan Cates).

The two had this conversation online recently:
durrrr: y dont u take challenge
durrrr: since u never lose to me
jungleman12: i will prob
jungleman12: maybe
jungleman12: isnt bt next or something?
durrrr: i can do 2 at once
durrrr: ship ivey 500k n we will work out details
durrrr: get my aim from someone
jungleman12: ok
durrrr: i wanna crank out at least 2 of em before london if poss
jungleman12: ill talk to you over aim before doing it
durrrr: we could obv play in like 2 weeks
jungleman12: k
durrrr: kk gg

This is great news for all the people that got excited with the first challenge. It appears both Dwan and Jungleman12 would pursue completing the challenge in in two weeks. Dwan says he’d like to do before London. Obviously, if he did two more he’d be putting 3 million of his bankroll into escrow. While it’s unlikely but say Antonius caught fire, Dwan could potentially lose 4.5 million over the next few weeks…

To be continued.
