Legends of Poker Update
Bryan Devoshire spent quite a bit of his time as Chipleader at the Legends of Poker, building this chipstack. Notice the swirls.
That’s why it was stunning when he had a massive chip lead with 28 players left and the tower quickly disappeared. A guy also known for stacking chips creatively, so to speak, Men the Master was the unlucky bubble boy. He asked the remaining players if they wanted to do a save and give the 28th player a piece of the Pie. They declined. Then Men, went busto and nutso.
The Master chewed out the dealer in Vietnamese and left with steam coming out of his ears. That was quite the meltdown but would quickly be surpassed a few short hands later. Byran Devonshire recently signed with embattled poker site Ultimate Bet and took some heat for it on the forums, plus had a rather bad World Series of Poker, so when he had amassed enough chips to build a house it was a good day.
Little did he know those chips would be quickly taken away.
He got into a race for a 350k pot. And lost.
Nick Schulman headed to the rail, but that was only distraction from Devo’s implosion. He lost another race, but still had plenty of chips to stack in creative ways. And then he didn’t.
Holding 108 of diamonds he liked the Q94 flop as they were all diamonds. Be careful what you wish for. Devo actually was drawing to only one out. His opponent held A7 for the flopped nut flush. Even worse the stack sizes were similar.
When it was counted down it was discovered Devo’s opponent had him outchipped, but barely, and Devo was drawing to one solitary out, and just like that he was going home. Brutal. We can only hope his internet poker is going better than his live game this year.
Other notable action was the success of two November Nine players Kevin Schaffel and Steven Begleiter. Both ended the day with big stacks and looking to make their second final table togehter. The Legends of Poker, is a WPT event, so only six will get to the final table, but the Niners are hoping they get plenty of experience playing with each other before returning in
