Strategies for Playing Poker Successfully -II
Strategizing for big stacks – I
In this situation, the only hope left for your opponent to be in the game and beat you is by stealing more pots than you. If your analysis tell you that it is a tight player you are dealing with then keep up the pressure on them by constantly keeping on raising blinds whenever you draw above average card pairs, and on those occasions when you draw a really good hands, make sure you raise the stakes by a sum that would simply knock them out and give up on entertaining any hopes of winning unless they commit real big blunders which they most probably will.
Call or raise discreetly when you have big strength if you are looking forward to throwing a ambush and do not be scared to elicit with any A with a kicker down to nine or pockets if he bets big. Your opponent will have to be either very very aggressive or extremely lucky to snatch a victory now, seeing as he will need to fold his cards every few turns whenever you bet high or he or she might to over bet to counter your bets which of course again works in your favor.
Keep up building the pressure on him or her even he or she is an aggressive player as they keep countering your bets with over bets of their own but make sure you do not balk when you know you have to call when the blind is small and the cards it is drawn with are weak. It is much better to lose a small amount than end up losing big in case your opponent holds the better cards when you finally call the blinds. Keep the pressure up and let them know they would have to bet over the odds to defend his blinds when you do have the strength. Try and steer clear of his or her all-in as long as you have strong cards.
Strategizing for short stacks – I
This is a situation which is the exact opposite of an ideal situation, here you have lost a lot of your chips, with the players at the table successfully stealing from you and all the pressure is now on you while your opponent is having a joy ride. Now you, instead of your opponent, are in dire need as many pots as you can, trying to aim for more pots than your opponent that is.
This also implies that now the time has come for you to switch to the aggressive more of play, as any other strategy is not going to help you here until Kingdom come! It has a lot of negative implications which will in turn only limit your options of tacks you can use and also keep up the pressure on you until you even out. Any hand drawn will force you to make a commitment if you are the one beset with the task of placing the bet first.
